Campin w/ The Robertsons

If any of you know my dad, you know that camping is not for sissies! You see all these people with their blow up matresses, and big camper trailers, or staying in Cabins... what pansies! Camping is for getting dirty, sleeping in a tent on the hard ground in snow, rain, sleet, hail, or sunshine. I held on to this philosophy for a very long time, convinced my dad knew best. I laughed when they had us stay in cabins for girls camp, or to see families with 'all the extras.'

Now... It was unfair of me to judge these people as I had never tried 'trailer camping'. Cameron's family had a small trailer growing up, and we ended up buying a beat up, old school trailer for $200 from a co-worker of Camerons. We gutted it, cleaned it out, and my mom made new cushion covers. Then we got invited to go camping with the Robertson Family... a perfect chance to try out our new gem! :)

So, if you can't tell from the pictures, our camper is NOTHING compared to the Robertsons. At first I was starting to giggle again... Heated rooms... television... stove... microwave... all the conveniences of staying home in the great outdoors. IT WAS HEAVENLY!!! First of all, I wasn't about to sleep on the hard ground with my pregnant belly. Secondly... have you ever been FREEZING while your camping and couldn't get warm? It was so convenient to step into a nicely heated camper to get warmed up, play a game of cards, and just relax. I don't think I will ever go back. Trailer camping is the way to camp. Sorry Dad, I love you and all, but I just won't ever think tent camping is as fun as I used to!

We had so much fun with the Robertson Family! We watched National Treasure 2, played card games, went on 4-wheeler rides on and off throughout the weekend, and ate some DELICIOUS food! Thank you Robertsons!!!

$ for Fireworks

My sister Sharla called me a few weeks before the 4th of July and asked if we had any odds and ends chores for her son Jamen to complete. He wanted to save up some money to buy Fireworks for the fourth of July. We had just finished getting a load of rocks for our landscaping, and Cameron wouldn't let me touch them ("Your pregnant, you're gonna hurt yourself.) So, We enlisted Jamens help and he did a great job. He watered all our trees and flowers, helped cameron haul rock, and also helped us plant some seeds in the Johnson Family Garden. It was a lot of fun... we love spending time with our Neices and Nephews!

Oh Say Can You See

*Disclaimer: my camera is still broken and we still don't have internet, so it takes me a while to get the pictures where I need them. So my lack of posting isn't entirely my fault- it's just a long and tedious process until I get some glitches taken care of! :)

The Fourth of July has got to be My favorite of all favorite holidays. I don't know if its because it's a paid
day off work, or the family bar-b-q's we get to go to, the patriotic spirit in the air, or that I feel so much closer to my Father in Heaven for this amazing land we are blessed to live in. Probably all of the above, but I absolutely love it. Especially since I've been married. It's so great to have both Cameron and my family so close to where we live.

I must say, Grandpa Johnson knows how to throw a mean Independence Day Bar-B-Q. As you can see from the above picture, steak is the meat of choice in the Johnson households (and for that me and my belly are grateful.)

Cameron and I took a nice long nap after stuffing ourselves at Grandpas house, then it was on to the Greenbelt fo
r the best firework show in America! Cameron and I always go a few hours early so we can make it around the greenbelt, visit friends and family, and in my case... eat more food! And boy was I excited- Funnel cakes, corn dogs, jamba juice stand, chicken teriaki bowls. It was almost like being at the fair- but in July! It was like my birthday had come early. (Camerons wallet didn't survive.) It was just a sampler of all the delectable goodies I will get to eat at the beginning of September when we go to the fair: at which point I will be 8 months pregnant so I will have a good excuse for gorging myself.

Anyways, enough about the food. We walked around the river; a little slower than usual due to my belly; but we got around. The firework display was fantastic as usual. All in all it was a great day! God Bless the U.S.A.

P.s. A special thanks to Steve for the amusing backdrop!
